My name is Mary Jo. I started this blog in August, 2017. I am a wife, mother, sister, daughter, friend and francophile. (Don’t hold that against me.) When I became a mother for the first time, my DNA changed, and as a very reluctant participant of a moms’ Rosary group, I began to rediscover the beauty of my Catholic faith. I’m confident the Blessed Mother led me to her son with a string of beads. Did I mention I like to laugh? And I like it even more when I make my kids, husband or just about anybody else laugh too. I have three kids in elementary school, two in heaven, who I know must be praying for me, especially on the days the coffee’s running low. My musings on this blog are about growing up in the midwest, in the post Vatican II era 70’s and 80’s, dealing with the sudden death of my beloved mother, my struggles as a middle-aged wife and stay-at-home mom, (Yes, Ted. It is a real job, ok?) and my desire to grow in intimacy with Jesus, who has given me a new life. Oh yeah, and it may include a bit about all the family chaos along the way, hence the name, “We’re Late for Church.”
